Coding bootcamps: Explore careers that Hack Reactor grads pursue

Jobs you can get after coding bootcamps

Coding bootcamps are designed to be career-launchers. So, what jobs are you qualified for after you graduate?

In this post, we’ll take a look at the types of jobs our beginner coding bootcamp graduates have landed after the program. Lindsey Zicker, for example, is now a Full-Stack Software Engineer at MatchPoint, and Anthony Cella is a Software Engineer at Cisco – a job he earned without a bachelor’s degree. Eve Lyons combined her sales background with coding skills to score a Digital Sales Specialist position at IBM.

All three launched their new tech careers through a Hack Reactor bootcamp.

What jobs are coding bootcamp graduates qualified for?

Our full-stack curriculum covers JavaScript, Python, SQL, databases, popular AI tools like GitHub Copilot, and more. Here are some of the jobs our grads have landed:

  • Software engineer/developer: Designs and builds software
  • Web developer: Creates the digital experiences users interact with
  • Data analyst: Interprets data and visualizes patterns using SQL and Python skills from bootcamp
  • QA engineer/test automation: Catches bugs before users do
  • UI/UX designer: Combines coding knowledge plus design skills to create powerful interfaces

How Hack Reactor prepares you for your new career

Our Beginner Coding Bootcamp offers an immersive curriculum that teaches what employers are looking for, including full-stack development, modern frameworks, and the effective use of AI and AI tools for enhanced learning and productivity. You’ll build real-world projects for your portfolio, learning how to work solo and also as part of a high-functioning development team.

Graduate Chris Zambito, now a lead software developer at Comptus Technologies, credits this approach with his success on the job.

“Hack Reactor taught me a sense of schedule,” he said, “including what steps to take to go from zero to finishing the back end to deploying the front end.”

How graduates grow & find fulfillment in their careers

In 2024, we conducted an Alumni Survey, and respondents who graduated between 2014-2024 reported earning an average salary of $162,000, confirming that software engineer salaries are lucrative and can grow with professional experience. Nearly half (48%) of respondents reported earning promotions in their careers, and 87% reported being satisfied in their current roles.

Graduate Lindsey Zicker is still early in her career, but she is enjoying her work already.

“I like the level of trust and flexibility I’ve been given,” she said. “My team has empowered me to take ownership of UI/UX designs, giving me the creative freedom and space to build them out. This autonomy has made the work not only enjoyable but also incredibly impactful.”

Graduate Eve Lyons merged her entrepreneurial background with Hack Reactor’s technical training. She now sells IBM’s storage systems, bridging sales and engineering worlds.

“Very few people can do both well,” she said. “I can bridge both worlds.”

The role of the Pathway Program™

Technical skills alone won’t lead to a new job and career. It also takes solid soft skills, like good communication, teamwork, and professionalism. Our career services Pathway Program provides the following:

  • 1:1 career coaching during the bootcamp and six months afterward
  • Personal branding: Resume, LinkedIn, and more
  • Mock interviews and career workshops
  • Access to our growing alumni network of 14,000+

Take it from graduate Cise Babatasi, who said that she “found it really helpful to connect with other Hack Reactor alums during the job search process. We were able to share tips and advice with each other and offer support when things got tough. Overall, I can’t say enough about how helpful [the Pathway Program] was during the job search process. Their advice and guidance were invaluable, and I feel really fortunate to have had their support as I navigated the post-program job market.”

Career growth beyond the first job

Many graduates begin as junior developers, then advance into mid-level and leadership positions. They work for all types of companies, from startups to tech giants and healthcare companies to financial institutions.
